Camp Amerikids provides a traditional summer camp experience for youth infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. The organization was recommended by The National’s Bryce and Aaron Dessner, co-producers of “Dark Was the Night.” Our funding helped provide materials and supported the camp when it was on the verge of closing, enabling the camp to provide two more weeks of summer fun and memories.
Amerikids sent us a grant report stating:
“Our theme this year was “Mission Possible”. Throughout Camp, learning activities and special events were all geared toward trying new things, being creative and supporting one another; all while providing the best medical care from our volunteer doctors and nurses. Each day our campers were reminded that anything is possible…We know they left camp with special memories and renewed self-confidence that will carry them into the new school year and beyond, and we know that Red Hot helped make it possible!”
