Though with a positive attitude, I can’t say I didn’t have a good time at ‘EDC NY’ – Metlife Stadium, NJ. However, with all of my extremely high expectations, I must say I was left teased and pretty unimpressed. Giving the benefit of the doubt, the Las Vegas location must include all of the art, theatrics, and outrageous elements that I was promised…because New York was lacking in all of the above. I might have been awed, having not caught wind of incredible amount of hype that preceded The Electric Daisy Carnival. Where were all the digital fairies, cosmic clowns, and girls with glowing hula hoops!? (I guess I should have brought mine).
That said, the festival was a true representation of the prominence of electronic music in today’s culture. It has most definitely caught wind and BLOWN UP! It’s become almost parallel to Pop music, particularly with the kind of crowd it produces. I look forward to comparing this experience with other electronic music festivals this summer. Though the true electro-lover in me does not want to share with the world, this could be a great opportunity to raise money for those in need.
