Red Hot Organization was founded on the principal that awareness of and education about HIV/AIDS is best delivered using popular culture and artful propaganda. Elton John, Stevie, Etc. – That’s What Friends are For
An obvious choice and amazing song. Recorded as a benefit for American Foundation for AIDS Research, this song raised over $3 million dollars for the cause.
U2 – One
AIDS benefit song reminding the world to carry each other through despair.
Wu- Tang Clan – America is Dying Slowly
Off the 8th Red Hot AIDS compilation, America is Dying Slowly, Wu-tang reaches out to African American men through pop culture.
Salt-n-Peppa – Lets Talk About Sex
Lets talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be. Alternate version Lets Talk About AIDS released for radio to gain awareness.
Janet Jackson – Together Again
Who could forget Janet hanging out with elephants and eagles in Africa? Janet dedicates this song to all the friends she lost to AIDS.
Michael Jackson – Heal The World
This song has been used to pioneer all of Jacksons charitable causes including the spread of HIV/AIDS.
George Michael – Jesus to a Child
Classic tribute to George’s lover lost to AIDS.
Soft Cell – Tainted Love
Though not its intended message, this songs resurgence in the 80’s tied it inevitably to the AIDS crisis.
