Elizabeth Taylor passed away several months ago at the age of 79. A great actress as well as an activist, Taylor was a a co-founder of amfAR (the American Foundation for AIDS Research), one of the largest leading organizations in the world dedicated to the fight against AIDS.
The Taylor estate is now auctioning some of Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry. During her life, her foundation supported research for a cure to HIV/AIDS, and now the money from the auctions will be going toward the same thing.
Starting in West Hollywood, California, 269 pieces of the actress’ jewelry will be going to the highest bidder.
Included among the items is a wristwatch given to her by Michael Jackson, which is expected to go for around half a million dollars. The white diamond ring from her former husband, Richard Burton, will also be at the auction.

The auction will end in New York, where an event for the foundation will be held from December 13th to the 16th.
Even after death, Elizabeth Taylor inspires. Bill Clinton once said of her, “Elizabeth’s legacy will live on in many people around the world whose lives will be longer and better because of her work and the ongoing efforts of those she inspired.”
We know that Taylor herself wanted to see a cure to AIDS. Hopefully the money made from the jewelry she loved in her lifetime will further support the cause.
