It has been revealed that legendary pop/rock musician, Elton John, is to release a written account of his experiences during the AIDS epidemic. Having strong relationships with icons such as Freddy Mercury, the Queen front man who passed away from the disease in 1991, John was directly effected by the widespread fatality. Publishers Hodder & Stoughton assure an extremely personal tale that will not only provide attention to the still existent and uncured disease, but will also bring change. For about 20 years, the Elton John AIDS Foundation has raised funds to help fight the disease and continues to do so. His book is set to be published this July, 2012, around the time of the 2012 International AIDS Conference held in Washington DC.
“This is a disease that must be cured not by a miraculous vaccine, but by changing hearts and minds, and through a collective effort to break down social barriers and to build bridges of compassion.” -Elton John
