With recent falling-outs from Drum and Bass sensation, Pendulum, and the Swedish electronic-pop trio, Swedish House Mafia, we EDM lovers have been hurting over the last couple of weeks. And just as we thought things couldn’t get any worse socialite screw-up, Paris Hilton, is now taking up DJing and we can’t help but wonder if the Mayan’s really did predict the end of the world.
Paris Hilton’s debut performance took place at the Pop Music Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It goes without saying that there’s plenty of her writhing about behind the decks pulling seductive faces, but there also seems to be a cameo appearance from a professional knob twiddler to help her out with the tricky bits.
But let’s be honest here… several mistakes were made even with her backup knob twister. To start, during Gotye’s “Somebody I Used to Know,” Paris accidentally shifts the pitch of the song, giving the mix a warble like a warped vinyl record. Also, you will notice that the show’s smoke machine seems a bit louder than the actual set. But the best part of the evening is Paris’ failed attempt at playing her new single “Last Night” with Afrojack. Instead of blasting Brazil with her Afrojack cut, the “DJ” mistakenly cues Rihanna’s “We Found Love.” To make matters even worse, she tries to sing over the track.
